Gaza started playing airsoft in December 2019, after he went into an airsoft department in an electronics store called Joshin "Super Kids Land" in Nagoya during the summer of the previous year. Since he is from New York City gun stores are not really that prevalent, which may come as a surprise to those that think gun stores are on every street corner in America. At the time, he did not know if they were real or not. Once he found out they were replicas, he tried to buy one as a tourist but it didn't go well and he was unable to. In 2019, Gaza become a working resident in Japan, so decided to buy his first airsoft gun and played a game at Nagoya's Asobiba airsoft field.

Gaza found that one of the biggest challenges he faced when starting airsoft was accuracy and overall weapons handing. In 2020, the Hexera Airsoft Arena owner told him that he should practice more, so he took the advice. He began dry firing and using the range more often to learn how to properly handle his weapons, improve accuracy and to hone his general combat skills. This also became a vlog series, and something that Gaza has been continuing to improve since he began airsoft in order to perfect his skills on the field and still continues to do often.

It was at Hexera Airsoft Arena where he experienced his best memory, where he competed in the the first ever Hexera Airsoft Area Gun Fight Cup 1v1 tournament in August of 2020, this was the same week Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) passed away. This gave him a lot of motivation to do his best and fight hard that day. He played 1 vs 1 and it was single elimination. Although he did not win, he gained good experience to take into the field. It also gave him a good idea on how big the talent pool in Japan really is.

Another memorable experience Gaza had was in Kansai at Feeling of Peach in 2022. He was fighting off 6 enemies by himself with a Glock 19 during a game (the gameplay is on his YouTube channel). He also managed to get a long range kill at about 30 meters with the Glock 19. Gaza feels this was probably the best performance he has had so far.

While most of Gaza's game focus on indoor fields with a lot of CQB encounters, he did try Field Ops, an outdoor field located in Inagi, Tokyo. He described the field as having a military feel to it, with many players using full battle dress uniforms (BDU), ghillie suits and a much wider range of combat situations. Rather than having walls and barricades around, it was all set in nature and the use of fully automatic weapons is allowed, which changed the gameplay completely.

The best part of airsoft is the physical exercise element and the learning curve. Gaza enjoys learning new skills and mastering them, which has been seen in his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The only downside is that some fields have an element of toxicity. I have experiences bias between players and some fields in the past, especially against new foreign players. But this exists in every sport, so Gaza does not let it get to him and focuses on honing his skills and having fun.

Since Gaza learned airsoft in Aichi, even though he is currently living in Kanto he still has fond memories of Hexera Airsoft Arena and Brave Point in Nagoya. If you are located in the Nagoya area, these are two fields he recommends starting at.

Message to new players

Just play the game and enjoy the game.

Don't worry about anything else, the point is to have fun. 楽しむ
